SEDDON SHIELD MATCH
COASTERS IN BLENHEIM [SPECIAL TO "STAR.”] BLENHEIM, Sept. 15. Blenheim was crowded with West Coasters this morning, many cars arriving overnight, for the Seddon Shield match between Marlborough (holders) and West Coast at Landsdowne Park to-day. The weather is fine though cloudy. The ground is hard and a fast game is expected. Marlborough, who have already defeated Buller, from whom they won the Shield, Golden Bay and Nelson this season, are confident of success. Coasters consider Marlborough will have their toughest game of the series. Mr. Ken Mclntyre, of Wellington, will be the referee. Kelly the promising MarlboTough. second five-eighth has been injured, and a re-arrangement of the holders’ back line has been necessary. Edwards, the South Island winger will now go to centre and Croudis will come into the team on one of the wings. The West Coast team are all fit and well and will line out as selected. ARMY TEAM TRIALISTS. (N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent) (Rec. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, September 14. Flying from Bari in seven hours, 39 trialists for the New Zealand Army Rugby team arrived in England this morning and passed through London en route to Margate, where they will go into training immediately. Their tour of the United Kingdom begins on October 27. The detailed itinerary is not yet completed. Another 26 trialists are expected to arrive in England shortly from Austria. During the coming weeks 29 players will be selected for the tour, after the trial matches. The team will be captained by C. K. Saxton, All Black, South Canterbury and Southland half-back.
