Netherby had a busy time last season, starting on 19 occasions for two wins and six placings. Nev/ Trainer: O. Quinlan, of Greymouth, recently secured his trainer’s license, and he has three horses in work at Victoria Park —Aloysius, who is highly regarded; Loyal Peg, who won at Westport last season under W. R. Butt, and a promising three-year-old Sandydale gelding from Huia Potts. Flying Orders Sold: After refusing an offer of 1000 guineas for Flying Orders, Mr. E. Simpson has sold him to Mr. W. Quirk, formerly of Dunedin, but now of Palmerston North. The price has not been disclosed. Flying Orders is a three-year-old brown gelding by Croupier from Liane, by Captain Bunsby from Degage, by Kilbroney from Miss de Vai, by All Red. He started only once last season, when he won the second division of the Hastings Maiden and is expected to reach the best classes. YEARLINGS AT NEWMARKET LONDON, Sept. 14. At the yearling sales at Newmarket, the Prince Aly Khan secured a colt bv Umidar from Queen Christian for 7,300 guineas. Other sales included a filly by Turkhan from Fairetta, 7,100 guineas; a filly by Nearco from Barrowby Gem, 6,800 guineas; and a colt by Fair Trial from Suntrap, 6,100 guineas.
