Both leaders in the Australian chess championship won their games in the eleventh round. Steiner outplayed Harris. Lazare had a hard game against Klass, but won convincingly. The New Zealander, Wade, completely outplayed Crowl, finishing the game by a magnificent combination. The holder, Koshintsky, lost his third successive game. Scores, with four rounds to go: Steiner and Lazare each 81, Purdy and Wade each 71, Green 64 (with one adjourned) Crowl 6|, Goldstein 54 (with two adjourned). Koshintsky, Klass and Watson each 5.
