D.S.O. KILLED BY FIREWORKS LONDON, August 19. After bearing a charmed life in some of the toughest operations of the war, including the Normandy landings and the Arnhem operation, Lieutenant-Colonel Pierre Joubert, D. 5.0., D.F.C., of the South African Air Force, was killed on V-J Night when he was hit by a home-made firework consisting of Very stars in an iron pipe. It was revealed at the inquest that Lieutenant-Colonel Joubert received severe head and leg injuries from which he later died.
