LEAGUE FOOTBALL
TOMORROW'S GAMES
To-morrow’s Rugby League fixtures will bring about the meeting between Runanga and Blackball, a meeting that had been waited for with interest by the followers of the code, after Runanga’s easy e.«rly victories—but backers of the Runanga team will feel less confident than hitherto after the team’s surprise defeat at the hand of Marist last week. Many would like to see Blackball’s long run of victories brought to an end and looked to the promising youthful Runanga side, which played so well past year, to do so, but now the most likely team to bring about the champion’s downfall is Marist, who last year occupied the bottom rung in the ladder. .Already they have assured themselves of a higher status this season. While Blackball and Runanga meet at Blackball, much interest will probably be taken in the Marist-Ngahere match at Wingham Park. Ngahere was lucky to get a draw with Kohinoor last week, though usually a difficult team to cope with, ana an improvement will make the game interesting. It is hard to see them cracking Marist’s outstanding defence, however.
The Third senior fixture will be played at Brunner where the home team will meet Kohinoor. Kohinoor has a drawn game to its credit while Brunner has yet to emerge winners, but an even game can be anticipated with an improvement in both sides likely. , , Junior, third and fourth grade games will be played at Kumara, Wingham Park, Runanga and Brunner.
