BURMA CAMPAIGN
TOUNGOO CAPTURED
RUGBY, April 26
British and Indian troops of the Fourteenth Army who have advanced 163 miles along the axis of the main north-south road and railway from Meiktila, have captured Toungoo, and occupied the surrounding group of airfields, says the South-east Asia Headquarters. The advance southwards from Toungoo is making good progress. EasTof Thazi on the Japanese escape route into Shan States, our troops are encountering opposition. Our aircraft continued attacks on enemy installations and strategical targets.
