REEFTON, April 19. The following cases, were .heard at a sitting of the Magistrate s Com t, before Mr. A. A. McLachlan, S.M..— William G. Chandler, for using oil fuel in o her than the way for which th? licence was granted was fined £2, with costs 10/-. hours For consuming liquor after hot ns in the Southern' Cross Hotel seven defendants were each fined £2, witn costs 10/-. Jellicoe Smith, for opening for selling liquor after h ™ r s, was fined £2, with costs 10/-. .Jot being found on licensed premises after hours a defendant Ikamatua was fined 10/-, with costs 12/-. Ihiee defendants for consuming liquor on Iciensed premises after hours at Ikamatua were each fined £-A wiin costs 12/-. For consuming liquor after hours at Batira’s Hotel, Ma wheraTti, nine defendants were each fined £2, with costs 12/-. R. JMarshall, as licensee of Ratu as Hotel, for selling liquor after hours, was fined £lO, with costs. 12/-. For driving a motor vehicle on the main highway without a motor driver’s license, George T. Smith was fined £l, with costs 12/-, and ioi using a motor-car and not holding a warrant of fitness he was fined 10/-, with costs 12/-. John O’Flaherty, for using an un ; licensed wireless set, was fined 10/-, with costs 10/-. For employing more men at tne Dauntless coal mine, Reefton, othei than the number allowed by his qualifications, R. F. Woodbury was ordered to pay costs 10/ ? . For taking explosives into a mine without a .proper container for same, W. Nicholls was fined £2, witn costs 1/-. , , , William J. Larcombe was ordered to pay 15/- weekly on a maintenance order, and a further 5/- weekly in reduction of past maintenance ot £l5. Arthur J. Henery was . convicted for disobedience of a maintenance order and ordered to pay 5/i weekly in reduction of the amount, in addition .to current maintenance monies. . , In the following civil cases,, judgment for plaintiffs by default was (given: C. M. Mathison v. Thomas Connolly for £3O, costs £4/2/6. W. /Fraser v. A. E. Smith for £6/15/-, costs £l/10/6. W. Fraser v. T. O’Donnell, junr., for £l, costs 10/-. Inangahua County Council v. Mary M. Flynn for £l3/8/9, costs £2 16/-.
WARDEN’S COURT At the Warden’s Court, before Mr. A. A. McLachlan, the following applications were heard: —- Burnwell Coal Coy. Ltd., for an extension of time for the hearing of an application. —Recommended. Pyramid Coal Mining Coy. for a coal lease of 41 acres. —Recommended. M. L. O’Malley and other for a coal lease of one acre. —Recommended. W. Nicholls for a coal prospecting license over 8 acres. —Granted. R. F. Woodbury for leave to register an assignment of an ordinary prospecting license. —Granted. Thompson Timbers for leave to surrender a tramway license. —Accepted. W. T. Hempseed for leave to surrender two residence site licenses. —Accepted. Public Trustee for estate A. Hempseed for leave to surrender a residence site license. —Accepted.
