AUCKLAND v. CANTERBURY AUCKLAND, December 29. Batting first under good conditions in the representative cricket match against Auckland, at Eden Park today, Canterbury occupied the crease all day, compiling 330 runs for nine wickets. Canterbury’s batting was a mixture of the solid and aggressive type. After losing a wicket early, I. B. Cromb (44) and W. A. Hadlee (74), New Zealand representatives, by careful batting added 92 for the second wicket, against an accurate attack. The highlight of the innings, however, was a seventh-wicket partnership between W. McD. Anderson and R. H. Scott, which yielded 88 runs. Scores: — CANTERBURY—First Innings I. B.
