RAIN DELAYS PROGRESS

LONDON, October 27

Heavy rain on the Adriatic sector in Italy has flooded rivers and made roads impassable, but the Bth Army has reached the Ronco river on a broad front, and patrols are across the river at several points. The Ronco runs north-east to Ravenna. Little progress has been made towards Forii. South of Bologna the sth Army has made local gains. “f’he sth Army has continued its slow, methodical progress against unrelenting resistance,” said Thursday’s communique from Italy. “The Bth Army, after the enemy withdrawal, advanced rapidly from the Cesena bridgehead and has driven the enemy across the Bevana river. West of the Bevena, the Bth Army has captured the town of Forlimpopoli and reached the Raciro river west of the town. The Bth Army has advanced within five miles of Fo'rli.”
