CHURCH COMPETITIONS

YOUTH COUNCIL FUNCTION. Constituting the first function arranged by the newly-appointed In-ter-Church Youth Council at Greymouth, sacred competitions were held at the Wesley Bi-Centennial Hall, last *evening, attracting an audience that packed the building. There were in the vicinity of 60 entries, a high standard being achieved. Rev. T. R. Page was the convener, Captain O. L. Ojala presided, and the judges were Mrs. T. H. Best and Rev. of Harding (musical section), and Revs. P. Kirkham, A. Templeton, and E. S. Hoddinott (elocution). Results were:—

Junior Bible reading: Margaret Nees, 89 1; Bob Macaulay 2; 21 entries. Junior sacred solo: Margaret Nees 1, Mary McKnight 2; 12 entries. Intermediate character study: Miss E. Dewai' 1, Mr. W. Rosewall 2. Junior hymn studv pianoforte: Mary McKnight 1, C. Mosley 2; six entries. Intermediate sacred solo: Miss Marjorie Best 1, Miss Joan Swinburn and Mr. W. Rosewall equal 2. Senior sermonette: Miss Shirley McNabb, 71. 1. Senior sacred solo: Miss Winsome Truman 1. Junior Scrinture recitation: Mary McKnight, 86. 1; Claire Baldwin. 83. 2. Hymn study pianoforte. intermediate: Mr. W. Rosewall 1, Miss Mary Stratford 2. Hymn study pianoforte, senior: Miss W. Truman 1.
