VISITING NEW ZEALAND
MR. CURTIN & DR. EVATT
(Recd. 1.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 13. Mr Curtin is expected to visit New Zealand next month to confer with the Dominion Government, reports the political correspondent of the “Sydney Telegraph.” He is expected to be accompanied by the Minister for External Affairs (Dr. Evatt). Although no definite date for the conference between the representatives of the two Governments has been fixed, the meeting is likely to be held as soon as possible after the Australian Parliament adjourns. The Federal Parliament is expected to adjourn about the end of September, after which Mr Curtin will preside at a brief conference of State Premiers in Canberra. The New Zealand conference will discuss matters arising from the Australia-New Zealand agreement signed in Canberra last January, also other subjects of mutual interest.
WELLINGTON, September 13. Mr. Fraser said, to-day, that in accordance with the terms of the Canberra Agreement discussions would normally take place between the Australian and New Zealand Governments twice a year, and such discussions would be held alternately in Australia and New Zealand. The question of the next meeting was at present under discussion, and an invitation had been issued to the Commonwealth Government to send representatives to New Zealand, but so far a date had not been fixed.
