DISTINGUISHED VISITORS
MR. FRASER’S ANNOUNCEMENT ! AUCKLAND, July 19. I The prospect of a visit being made to New Zealand by Mr. Churchill was mentioned by the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) to-day. “On my last interview with him on the day I left London,” said Mr. Fraser, “Mr. Churchill assured me that as soon as Germany was defeated, he and other Ministers concerned would visit New Zealand and Australia. They would be accompanied by the British chiefs of staff, and the visit would be for the purpose of discussing the war against Japan, and further planning of the campaign with the Governments of New Zealand and Australia.” Mr. Fraser added that he anticipated that meetings would take place in Wellington and Canberra.
“I fully anticipate that President Roosevelt and United States chiefs of staff will also visit us,” Mr. Fraser added. If that were so, no doubt discussions would take place in the areas visited among the leaders of the United Nations concerned in the Pacific war and the chiefs of staff,
