TOUR OF SOUTH PACIFIC BASES

NEW CALEDONIA, June 16

The band of the R.N.Z.A.F. auspiciously opened its South Pacific tour this morning with a march through the streets of Noumea before entering upon a series of performances at New Zealand and Allied camps in the base and forward areas. Before going to the Solomons area the band will give programmes at the local hospital and camps for the next fortnight. M. Jaques Tallec, Governor of New Caledonia and High Commissioner for French Possessions in the South Pacific, sent a message of congratulation, and thanks to the band alter its first parade in Noumea.
