Reporting the appearance in Rome of a weekly newspaper, “Voice Operaia” (“Workman’s Voice”), the Rome correspondent of “The Times” says its appearance shows the immense popularity Communism has won among the Italian people. Recent arrivals from Northern Italj r say the whole country is solidly Communist. The idea seems current that Great Britain and the United States, being rich countries, have no time for a poor country like Italy, but that Russia, the Government of which stands for the proletariat, is clearly cut out to be Italy’s friend in the coming phase of European history. The Soviet’s prompt resumption ol diplomatic relations with Italy supports the idea and assists the tactics of the Communist Parly, which aims at becoming a national party in Italy, as it is in Russia.
