The Admiralty announced that Vice-Admiral Sir Henry R. Moore has been appointed Commander-m-Chief of the Home Fleet, in succession to Admiral Fraser.—B.O.W.

Rev. Father Long left this mprnino- en route lor Melbourne, where he”wiil attend the consecration oi Rt. Rev. Monsignor P. F- Lyons, Bishop-elect of Christchurch. Rev. Fath f T Browne, of Ahaura, left yesterday by air for Wellington, en loute to Melbourne to attend the ceremony.

Mrs. J. M. Reedy, of Ruatoria, died following a motor accident near Wanganui last week. A leading chieftainess of the Ngatiporou tribe, she was a daughter of the late Tula Ngarimu and sister of Sam Ngarimu, Avho is the father of the Maori Victoria Cross winner. Mrs. Reedy’s gift for oratory gained her a place as the only woman speaker to address the huge gathering at the Waitangi celebrations, and she occupied a similar position at .the Ngarimu V.C. hui held at Ruatoria last October.
The death occurred at Greymouth, last evening, after a lengthy illness, of Mr. Frank McHugh, a native of Victoria, aged 70 years. He had worked or. the Greymouth Avaterfront for the past 30 years. He is survived by four sons. Lt. Frank McHugh (N.Z.E.F.), Allan (N.Z.E.F, overseas), and William, Avho returned this week from service overseas, and tAvo daughters. Mesdames F._ McEnaney and A. BroAvn (Blaketown). The funeral will take place to-morroAA 7 at Karoro Cemetery.
