In response to a request by the Nelson-Marlborough-West Coast League of Local Bodies that plant and labour now engaged on the South Island Main Trunk line be transferred to Glenhope .when that work is completed, the Minister of Works (Mr. Semple) has advised that he cannot commit the Government under present circumstances. “The question of whether or not the construction of the Glenhope-Mur-chison line will be resumed must be held over for further consideration in the light of ‘conditions as they may exist after the war.”
