TWIN CALVES TO ORDER
STOCK FOR EUROPE. , LONDON, Aoril 2. due Cambridge Animal Research Station, alter 15 years of artificial insemination, is expecting the birth of twin, triplet and quadruplet calves m me Autumn. Two sets of twins and two of triplets, all “ordered” at conception, have been born already. „ experiments are being made by Dr. John Hammond, physiologist at the Animal Nutrition Institute School ol Agriculture, Cambridge University, and President of the British Society of Animal Production, a new link between farmers and scientists, and his son, John. Dr. Hammond explained that the production of twin or more calves, still m its experimental stage, has greater potential value with beef animals than dairy cattle. By cutting production costs in half, the system will be of enormous benefit in restocking Europe’s empty farms. The present cost of dosing for twins is seven shillings. .
