N.Z. SLAUGHTERMEN

MELBOURNE, May 16. New Zealand slaughtermen may be brought to Australia to help to increase meat production, according to the Minister of Labour (M)’/Holloway). In an announcement made, following a conference with meat industry representatives and government officials, the Minister said it had been suggested that because the Australian and New Zealand killing seasons did not clash, New Zealand slaughtermen could be brouht to Australia. Mr. Holloway told the conference there was no possibility of the meat demand slackening. Commitments to Britain had to be met and the needs at home would rise continuously because of the obligations to Australian and Allied troops in and beyond Australia.
