REEFTON NOTES
[OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON, May 13. Mr C. D. Buist presided at the monthly meeting of the Reefton School of Mines. The Mines Department advised that the tender of Mr Robert Yellowlees, of Reefton had been accepted for renovations and painting of the school. Mr W. J. Bolitho, Director, reported that during the month the classes at all four teaching centres were carried on as usuaj. An additional weekly night of tuition is now beipg provided at Wallsend. Attendances' are as follow’ Reel ton 19, Blackball 12,Waiuta 2 Wallsend 3. Students in these numbers are taking the first-class colliery managers’ course, and four the second class managers’ course. The Reel'ton High School Boys’ Class comprises 22 pupils, and the first-aid class at Reeiion. totals five. Eight sampleswere treated in the laboratory for the month, comprising six bullion assays and one each quartz and silver. Councillor Archer presided at a function held at the Council Chambers. ReH'ton, to farewell Mr L. A. Clark, wtro has been manager of the National Bank of New Zealand for four years. Mr Archer, in presenting Mr Clark with an envelope of notes spoke of the willing service that the guest had given the community.
