JAPANESE PLUNDER TEMPLES

NEW YORK, February 9

Japanese forces have removed priceless national treasures from Burma’s highest Buddhist temple. U. Bagley, a member of the board of trustees of the Sino-Burmese Cultural Association, announced in Chungking that among the treasures was a solid gold disc'., 25ft in diameter, placed near the top of the pagoda centuries ago. It -was surrounded with diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and pearls so numerous that the monks never counted them.
