ESCORT CARRIERS
RUGBY, March 21.
Thirty-eight escort carriers built in the United States have been delivered to Britain under lend-lease according to a statement by Colonel Knox, reported from Washington The Navy Secretary estimated that the United States itself has some 50 of these 10,000-ton vessels now operating. Replying to a question he said the United States had the option of asking for the return of any or all of the transferred ships still afloat at the end of the war.
