MIDDLE EAST OIL
| NEW FIELDS DISCOVERED I . NEW YORK, February 12. Vichy radio reports: Oil was found at Polotvir. 60 miles west of Ankara, [ after the recent earthquakes. Scieni tists are inyestigaTing the find. Turkish authorities are also, prospecting for oil in the Adana region. Britain, America and Russia at the Teheran Conference, agreed in principle on a programme for the development of the vast oil resources in the Middle East and the sale and distribution of petroleum products in post-war world markets. Mr Roosevelt said plans for supplies of oil from Iran could not be macle a pol--1 itical issue. He denied that Britain, > America, and Russia had discussed oil marketing at the Teheran or Cairo conferences, and he disclaimed knowledge of British and Russian missions coming to Washington to discuss the question. The “New York Times” says: Details of a scheme will be worked out in Washington in a series of conferences between the three Powers to develop Middle East oil deposits. Present plans indicate that post-war markets in Europe, Asia and Africa will be supplied almost entirely from Russian and Middle East fields! while oil from the United States and the Caribbean areas will he used exclusively in the Western Hemisphere.
