BOWLING TOURNAMENT
WEST COAST CENTRE. The annual tournament of the West Coast Bowling Centre comhiencea in Greymouth this morning, when the first round of the rinks contest was played under excellent conditions. The Greymouth, Karoro and Runanga Clubs’ greens were occupied, and all were in good order, although in the case of Greymouth the strong wind helped to upset calculations,. Blay commenced after Mr. S. Peek, the Centre President, had declared Proceedings open, the first round of 21 heads being completed about midday. The only Wellington rink, comprising veteran bowlers who are all former residents of. Greymouth: T. Goodall, A. Kilgour, A. Pollock and Phil. Skoglund (skip)—secured a comfortable win in the first round, defeating A. Ferguson’s Greymouth rink 22-17. To-morrow the rinks contest will be continued, when Section A will play on the Runanga green, Section B at Greymouth, and Section C at Karoro. Each of the first two sections has 10 rinks, and there are 12 in Section C. A start will be made on Wednesday with the pairs, which will be continued on Thursday, and on Triday post-section play in both rinks and pairs will begin.
