REEFTON. January 19
Heavy wind, which blew at Reefton all'day on Monday, brought a considerable fall of rain, which commencing at 9 p.m. on Monday night fell steadily all night. AH crops arc showing the benefit of the rain, which was the heaviest in Reefton for over 10 weeks. The weather cleared about 9 a.m. on Tuesday, but there is promise of further rain. To 9 a.m. to-day there had'been in 24 hours 1.36 inches of rain. The Inangahua River has risen considerably indicating very heavy rain in the'hills. The rain has been of considerable benefit to the Reefton town water supply. To-day. for the first time for some weeks it has been unnecessary to use the electric pumping plant to keep up the town supply.
