BUSH FIRE LOSSES

SYDNEY, January 18. Stock losses in bush fires which have raged in Victoria and New South Wales have been variously estimated at between two hundred thousand and one million, mostly sheep. The Federal Government has granted £200,000 for bush fire relief. Another death from bush fires has been reported in Victoria, bringing the total to twenty. Fifty-two people are in hospitals throughout Victoria suffering from shock or burns. Some are in a serious condition. No human death from the fires has been reported in New South Wales, but there is a heavy death roll in stock.
