MEDALS _ FOR INDIAN TROOPS
RUGBY, January 8. In recognition of services rendered in the present war the King has dii reeled that in future certain British decorations will be awarded to perI sonnel of the Indian fighting forces, ! states a New Delhi message. These decorations include the Military Medial, the Conspicuous Gallantry‘Medal, I the Distinguished Service Medal, and I the Distinguished Flying Medal. SPIES IN BELGIUM LONDON, Jan. 8. Single British aeroplanes are dropping weapons and uniforms in Belgium, says the Official German News Agency. Spies are active behind the Atlantic wall and Brussels in particular has become an enemy listening I centre. ! INDIA’S “GOVERNMENT” I NEW YORK, January 9. The Domei News Agency reported that Chandra Bose, the Free India leader, nas transferred the seat of the Provisional Government of Free India from Singapore to Burma, as another important step in preparations for launching destructive forces against India. GERMANS TRAP DANES. LONDON, Jan 9. German soldiers at Copenhagen trapped Victor Larsen, Danish Communist, and a companion, into promising to aid a German soldier who pretended he wished to desert to Sweden, says a Stockholf message.
Both Larsen and his companion were killed by rifle-fire.
CARIBBEAN COMMISSION.
RUGBY, January 9.
The first report of the Anglo-Ame-rican Caribbean Commission, just issued, makes it clear, states the Colonial Office, that a most promising start has been made in this sphere of AngloAmerican co-operation. Among the immediate tasks was the stimulation of local production of food. The Commission’s work has largely centred around war-time problems, but this does not mean that long-term plans are neglected. Many matters that require long-range approach are already having attention.
