GARDENS AND CATTLE
[to the editor.] . Sir, —Could you inform me, if the Holland Settlement, Cobden, is in the boundary of the Borough Ranger? We are asked through the papers and ovex- the air to “dig fox' victory,” but all oui' efforts in this direction are offset by cattle wandering the streets and entering gardens and thereby ruining all our efforts. If this area is undei- the jurisdiction of the Ranger, perhaps a visit to the settlement woula help us “Victory” gardeners to do our bit towards solving the vegetable problem.—Yours, etc., “VICTORY.”
The Borough Ranger (Mr H. Lane) states that he makes periodical visits to Cobden, including Holland Settlement, which is within the Borough boundaries, but that it is difficult to guess when the cattle will be wandering. Any information as to approximate times stock have been seen wandering would be welcomed, he added.—Ed., “Star.”
