RUNANGA SCHOOL COMMITTEE
MONTHLY MEETING
Mr R. J. Armstrong presided at the monthly meeting of the State School Committee held last evening. Present were Mesdames W. and R. Barker, and Messrs c. Kennedy W. Patterson, F. Oakley, K. Thompson and R. Ewin (secretary). The Headmaster r&ftorien: non 240, attendance 222. Mr Hornsby, the Board's foreman, visited the school and discussed sun-shading. Messrs Dickie, Bennett, Archer (Inspectors) visited the school on November 2, and Mr Joyce (Agriculture) on November 9. School swimming lessons are continuing.—The report was received as satisfactory. . . Country Library Service advised, that the service would be supplied free next year to those schools who had been taking the service for two consecutive years and have paid all dues. It was decided to write to (lie Education Board asking that provision be made for sun-shading windows on the north side of the school. Replacement of gate-posts at two entrance gates on the south side is also to be requested. Following a discussion on the supply of water to the swimming baths, it was decided to close the baths until fresh .water ■is made available. The Chairman stated that the water had not been changed since November 13. The Chairman extended Christmas greetings to Headmaster, staff and pupils, which were reciprocated. It was decided to send a letter to Mr and Mrs O. J. Davis, Granity, expressing the Committee’s pleasure at the news that their son William, a former pupil of the school, was safe and well, after being reported missing for so long.
