Tokalon Sold: Tokalon. who raced in the ownership of Mr H. Stafford when he returned a big dividend in winning the Spring Handicap at the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting at Addington on October 9, has been sold to a patron of the Hamilton trainer, C. Moran. Tokalon is nicely assessed and should find races to suit him in the Auckland district.
Change of Stables: Paul Collette, who was heavily backed to win the New Zealand Derby, has had a change of stables, and in future will be under the care of E. J. Smith at Prebbleton. Paul Collette is a goodlooking chestnut colt by Jack Potts from Bridget Borough. Though his track work at Addington at times has suggested that he is a high-grade racehorse, his performances in public have shown him to be a bit wayward and hard to manage in a race.
Royal Lancer Out: A Press Association message from Invercargill vesterday afternoon stated Royal Lancer’s injured leg got worse after he returned home from the track on Thursday, and F. AV. Ellis said yesterday morning that a race at this stage would probably cause a complete breakdown. The Irish Lancer gelding will therefore not contest the Southland Cun or the New Zealand Cup, and indications are that he will require a long spell.
Bonny Bridge Sold: It is reported that the New Zealand Derby winner, Eonny Bridge, has been sold by Mr G. Aitcheson to the Methven sportsmen, Messrs M. S. Turton and J. F. Grant, for a stun approaching four figures. Bonny Bridge is a brown coll by Grattan Loyal from a great race mare in Bonny Logan, and his win in the Derby showed him to be a good racing temperament and a real stayer. Messrs Turton and Grant, the new owners, are well known through the pacer, Fine Art, who raced in their interests.
