Mr. G. C. Lindsay left this morning for Auckland.

Mr. and Mrs. P. Greenwood left, today, for Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. I. N. Dey left, this morning, for Christchurch. Mr. G. Murtha left for Christchurch this morning.

Mrs. J. H. Townley and Miss B. Townley, of Wanganui, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. Barton, Cobden.

Constable Ruston and Mrs. Ruston (Onga Onga) have been visiting his mother at Greymouth.

Teaching appointments confirmed at a meeting of the Canterbury Education Board yesterday included:--Miss E .T. Scott (Blackball) and Mrs C. Johnston (Camerons). The resignations of Miss I. E. Dean (Blackball) and Miss R. Jones (Rotomanu) were accepted.

Mr. W. F. Callery, Train Running Officer, Railways Department, Greymouth. has received advice of his transfer to a similar position at Christchurch. Mr. Callery, who has been in Greymouth since 1934, was formerly stationed at Morven. He will leave shortly for Christchurch.

Lieutenant-Colonel R. Trevor Smith, 0.8. E., A.M.1.C.E., who was until recently commanding officer of the New Zealand Railway Construction Group in the Middle East, has now assumed the position of inspecting engineer for the Public Works Department, South Island, with headquarters in Christchurch.
