REEFTON NOTES

REEFTON, Nov. 17

The County Chairman (Mr. W. Hepseed) presided at the monthly meteing of the Inangahua District Patriotic Committee held at Reef ton. Present Messrs A. F. Wells, J. Discacaiti, W. J. Humphries, F. W. Archer, A. Hobbs, W. B. Auld, secretary and treasurer.

The National Patriotic Fund Board advised that a collection of paintings by Capt. P. Mclntyre was available for display, and asked if the Inangahua Committee desired same for a show. —It was resolved, as no sutable hall was available, to take no action.

The Westland Patriotic Council advised that the request made by the Inangahua Committee for the exclusion of Waiuta from the Inangahua area, could not be granted, and suggested that a further approach be I made to Waiuta asking for help in the [matter of funds for sick and wounded.—lt was resolved that the ChairI man approach the Waiuta Patriotic Committee. [ The Reefton Patriotic Committee, who were to arrange for the display of the Blitz Pictures in Reefton, wrote that owing to lack of facilities to display and owing to the space needed, they had decided to cancel the display. Mr. Discacaiti reported _ that arrangements had been made for a visit to Reefton by the Westport Boys’ Band. The party would require to be billeted, and he asked for the support of the committee. Reefton High School were going to conduct a flower and vegetable show in the New Year for funds, and he asked that a committee be formed of members of the Patriotic Committee and .interested citizens to help the project. Mr. W. Auld reported monthly contributions as follow: T. Watson £l, Alexander Mine Employees 13/-. Reefton Committee monthly collection £64/18/-. Ikamatua Committee £l2/2/-. W. Hempseed £l. Total for month £79/13/-.
