A British Official Wireless mes-sage-stated that Mr. Eden had returned to London from Cairo.
Mr. G. D. Smart, Stationmaster at Greymouth, to-day completed 40 years’ service with the Railways Department.
The death occurred at Wellington, on Tuesday, of Mrs. Charlotte Benjamin, the wife of Mr. Ernest B. Benjamin, who formerly resided at Hokitika. Rear-Admiral Alan G. Kirk, of the United States Navy, has arrived in London for conferences with the United States Naval Chief in European waters.—B.O.W. Rev. H. G. Brown, of Westport, was this morning elected by the Nelson District Synod, at Greymouth, to be its representative at the Methodist Conference.- He also obtains a seat on the Stationing Committee by this vote. A London cablegram announced the death of Dr. Charles Lindsay, C.8.E., aged sixty, son of the Reverend George Lindsay of Christchurch. He was educated at Otago University, took B.S. Degree in 1904 and completed his medical examinations in. England. Guests at Revingtons Hotel include: Mr. and Mrs. H. M. McCutcheon, Mrs. E. R. Reay, Mrs. G. ■Barnes, Miss Reay. Miss Newton, Mr. M. R. Dalton (Christchurch), Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Madsen (Auckland), Mr. M. Henry (Waiuta), Mr. N. Harris (Ngatea), Mr. R. Hunter (Dunedin). Mr. R. A. Edwards (Auckland). The death occurred at Tauranga on Tuesday evening of Mrs Ruth Long, wife of Mr Cliff Long, after a lengthy illness. Deceased was a native of the West Coast and resided at Blackball with her husband for many years. Fifteen years ago the family removed to Auckland and later to Tauranga. She is survived by her husband, one son, Herbert (Tauranga) and two daughters. Mesdames Mylett (Tauranga) and T. Robertson (Whangarei. The death occurred at the West-, land Hospital, yesterday, after a lengthy illness, of Mrs. Caroline Wallace, a native of Riverton, aged 61 years. Deceased had resided for the greater part of her life in the Ross district. She is survived by her husband, six daughters, Mesdames L. Grieves (Methven), F. Gallop (Hokitika), G. Carr (Ross), J. Dakes (Christchurch), and Misses Pearl Wallace (Ross), and Rose Wallace (Christchurch), and three sons, Walter (Paroa), Bert (Ross), and George (Greymouth). There are also two brothers, George Mayo (Blaketown) and Charles Mayo (Greymouth), and one sister, Mrs. R. Bellis (Greymouth). The funeral will take place at Karoro Cemetery on Saturday afternoon.
