NEW APPOINTMENTS WELLINGTON, October 15. New appointments to the National Patriotic Fund Board were announced to-night by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr. Parry). Membership of the National Patriotic Council has been terminated, and several members of the Council have been appointed to the Board. The new members are the Mayor of Auckland (Mr. J. A. C. Allum), appointed on the nomination of the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council, the Hon. Vincent Ward, M.L.C. (Wellington), appointed on the nomination of the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council, Mr. W. S. Mac Gibbon (Christchurch), appointed on the nomination of the Canterbury Provincial Patriotic Council. Mr.'E. R. Neale (Nelson), appointed on the joint nomination of the Nel-son-Marlborough and Westland Patriotic Councils, Mr. A. H. Allen (Dunedin), Mr. T. Jordan (Masterton), Mr. B. J. Jacobs (Palmerston North), Mr. I. J. Goldstine (Auckland), Mrs. P. Fraser (Wellington). Messrs Jol’dan, Jacobs, and Goldstine, and 'Mirs. Fraser were members of the Council Mr. Jordan having been its chairman.

Mr. Parry said the revocation of all membership of the National Patriotic Council followed the recommendation of the last national patriotic conference. He wished to pay a tribute to the great work done by the Council during the four years of its existence. It was not too much to say that the whole system of working of the national patriotic organisation, consisting of the National Patriotic Fund Board and the II Provincial Councils, was very largely due to the splendid work done in the beginning by the National Patriotic Council. Mr. Parry added that the Council still existed formally under the regulations, but without membership, and it could be reconstituted at any time should the need arise.
