Prime Minister since ' 1940, Mr. . Fraser who will lead New Zealand’s • third Labour Government, is one of" the senior members of the House of > Representatives, having been first elected in 1918. Mr. Fraser, who is 59 years of age, was born at Hill of Fearn, Ross-shire Scotland. When Labour got into power in 1935, Mr. Fraser was appointed Minister of Education, Health and Marine. He held these portfolios until 1940. In 1937 he was acting-Prime Minister, and after the outbreak of war in 1939 he attended the Imperial ‘■War Conference. On the death of Mr. . I Savage he beca’me Prime Minister and head of the War Cabinet.
