TENNIS
Tn the course of the report to be presented to the anual meeting ol the Greymouth Lawn Tennis Club next week the Secretary (Mr A. R. Provan) states that owing to weather conditions and a shortage of balls the season was not particularly successful. “Financially the Club is. in a sound position, showing a credit balance of £145/13/2. During the year ; £4O was invested in War Bonds. Thei courts and fences are now showing signs of wear and weather and need! attention. At the end of the yeari there were 86 financial members. Al patriotic shop-day conducted by I women members raised £55, while; £3/15/- was raised for patriotic; funds by Yankee tournaments. Club; championships were won by Miss M.; Costello (women), Miss Z. Arm-1 strong (junior) and R. Mitchell (men). It may be in the best interests of the Club to consider re-| ducing the subscriptions owing to j the difficulty of procuring tennis; balls. We record our sincere regret! at the death on active service of Mr I G. Hutt, who was secretary for some
years. Twenty-eight members are on active service.”
