Versatile George Murphv and lovely Brenda Joyce head the knock-out cast. “Public Deb. No. 1” tells the story of an heiress who turns a gilded “Red” under the influence of her phoney Russian butler and is smacked back into line by a broke but brash young man. Brenda Joyce is the deb. who receives an oldfashioned spanking from Mr. Murphy as the first step in their riotous romance. Through a series of screamingly funny developments the story moves rapidly to a smash surprise climax. “FREE AND EASY” Combining hilarious situations and a unique love story “Free and .Easy’ commencing at the Opera House tomorrow, brings Robert Cummings and Ruth Hussey to the screen in a laugh packed tale of society “fortune hunters.” It is the story of a fortune hunter whose plans to marry a rich girl are scrambled when he meets and falls in love with a poor one. Elaborate social functions, homes of the rich, the races, a fashionable casino, gorgeously costumed men and women, set the entire story in a setting of charm and glamour. REGENT THEATRE: Finally Tonight “Whistling in Dixie.” Friday: “Eagle Squadron.” “Eagle' Squadron,” the first screen story of American fighter pilots in the R.A.F. commences at the Regent Theatre on Friday. Heading a long and imposing cast are Robert Stack and Diana Barrymore. The authentic behind-the-scenes story tells the actual experiences of many American aviators who preceded their own country’s entrance into the war by joining the R.A.F.’s Eagle Squadron in October, 1940. Flying their famous Spitfires, the Eagle Squadron has since then written many memorable chapters of the modern war in the clouds. In addition the film shows the widespread war work of British women and the operations of the famous British Commandos, the daring night raiders who have terrified the enemy. A story of human emotions agains't the background of the greatest war in all history, “Eagle Squadron” relates the experiences of a young Californian, portrayed by Stack, who joins the R.A.F. to fly a Spitfire against the Nazis. In his romance with Miss Barrymore, Stack tries to solve the human equation of war, and in his understanding comes the emotional and dramatic highlights 'of the picture.
