MEDICAL ADVERTISEMENT DUNEDIN, August 31. ■ Mr. H. W. Bundle, S.M., delivered judgment to-day in the cases in which the “Evening Star” and the “Otago Daily Times” were each charged with having published a medical advertisement in which the true name and address of the person for whom the advertisement was published was not stated. The Magistrate sustained the defence of the “Otago Daily Times” that the advertisement was not a medical advertisement within the meaning of the Act and dismissed the charge. He said that this advertisement appeared in the “Star” in a slightly different form bringing it within the meaning of the Act, and the company rightly pleaded guilty. The case was the first laid under the Act and a’£s fine would be imposed. ' In regard to the charges against Ralph Baker Hall, trading under the name of Privex Chemical Supplies the Magistrate found the charge of inserting an advertisement in the “Star” proved, imposing a £5 fine, and on a charge of a breach of the Indecent Publications Act, defendant was fined £lO.
