WOOL APPRAISALS
WELLINGTON, August 18.
The Dominion wool appraisals, or sales for the year ended June 30, 1943, realised £16,802,780, or £2.304,228 more than for the year to June 30, 1942. These and other returns were compiled by Dalgety’s statistical department. The quantity of wool was larger by 7892 bales, totalling 834,651. The value per bale was £2O/2/8, against £l7/10/9. Prices per lb were 13.95 d, compared with 12.25 d. Bales averaged 346 and 343 lbs. respectively. In addition to these sales, which were for greasy wool, 115,946 bales of slipe or freezing works wool was sold, accounting for £3,075,855, so the total realised for all wools approximated £20.000,000. The exact figure was £19,878,635/14/7, averaging £2O/18/3 a bale, or 14.57 d per lb. Of 834,651 bales of greasy wool sold, 501,110 bales were contributed by the 'North Island. Wool carried over at [June 30 amounted to 19,636 bales greasy, and production for the past season was 962,259 bales. STOCKS AND SHARES CHRISTCHURCH, August 18.
