DOMINION ITEMS

BAD RECORD WELLINGTON, August 17. Convicted on four counts involving abduction and threatening with a firearm, and the Court of Appeal having affirmed the convictions, William Alexander Crossman was sentenced to-day by Mr Justice Smith to four and a-half years’ hard labour. The Judge said be was taking into account that prisoner had been in custody since the beginning of the year. Prisoner’s record was bad, with previous convictions for acts of violence, involving the use of firearms. The public interest, whatever the private circumstances might be, imperatively required that no person be allowed to intimidate others in that way.
