UNITED NATIONS FAIR
NEED FOR SUPPLIES.
The need of looking ahead and making provision for the stocking and equipping of stalls at the forthcoming United Nations Fair at Greymouth is a problem that should engage the immediate attention of every Grey District resident, who, if each supplied but one single article would more than ensure the success of the venture and would alone provide more than half of the £lO,OOO objective for patriotic purposes to be devoted to Rehabilitation, Prisoners of War Fund, Sick and Wounded Fund and comforts for soldiers in the war zones. It will be readily agreed on all sides that there is a great difficulty to-day in purchasing items for sale in such as a United Nations Fair, and as there will be little or no vegetables and produce available because of the Winter period. the Fair will undoubtedly wind up to be more in the nature of a Paddy’s Market, with home made articles the mainstay. These can comprise various articles such as jams, jellies, pickles, sauces etc., aprons, cushions and cushion covers, tea cosies, shopping bags, many useful articles that are made from sugar bags, Hour bags etc., etc., rag mats and so on. The support of Women’s Institutes, and many other organisations that can assist is solicited and also of school children.
