WAR PRISONER’S BREAK-OUT
LONDON, July 11. An Italian prisoner of war, Antionio Amedo, after killing a guard with a billhook, escaped from a Honie Counties camp with a guard’s rifle and ten rounds of ammunition. The Italian ran across a field. He saw a girl working on a farm. He fired a shot at her but missed. He then broke into a house, and fired at two men, who returned the fire. They were both Home Guards, but were not on duty at the time. Later Amedo was shot dead by another Home Guard.
