SPARKLING CRICKET (Recd. 12.0 p.m.) LONDON, June 14. A holiday crowd of about twentythousand at the R.A.F. versus Army match at Lords, saw the New Zealander L.A.C. K. James, who was the R.A.F. wicketkeeper catch the first four Army batsmen, all off the bowling of Flight-Lieut. Austin Matthews. The Army declared at eight for 168. The R.A.F. had ninety-five minutes in which to make 169 and beat the clock by ten minutes, to win by nine wickets. Sergeant L. G. Berry and Squadron Leader W. J. Edrich staged a whirlwind unfinished stand, putting on the last 114 runs in forty-four minutes. Scores: Army 8/168 declared (Major A. B. Sellers 35, Matthews 5/41). R.A.F. 1/169 Berrv not out seventy-three. Edrich not out fifty-three. ATHLETICS A LONDON, June 14. A New Zealander, F. Johnson, gave an impressive display at the British Games at White City, to-day, winning the two-mile event in nine minutes 34 seconds.
S. C. Wooderson recorded his best time for the past three years in winning the one mile by a yard in four minutes 13.8 seconds.
