MR. AND MRS. J. TENNENT

At St. John’s Hall yesterday afternoon teachers and scholars of the Presbyterian Sunday School had tea and oade farewell to their Superintendent (Mr. John Tennent), Mrs. Tennent, and their son Tom. Rev. W. R. Martin presided, and after tea presentations were made of a bouquet to Mrs. Tennent by Jean Roxburgh; a fountain-pen to Mr. Tennent, by Vina Harrison, and that to Master T. Tennent, by Robert Steel. Mr. A. G. Gunn (Kirk Session) and Mr. E. F. Evans (Board of Managers), expressed regret at the departure of the guests. Mr. Tennent had been 19 years a teacher in the Sunday School and ever 10 years an elder in the Session. ■ Mr. Tennent thanked the Sunday School for their gifts, and said that the occasion brought back memories of happy days spent together. On medical advice he was seeking a change for the sake of Mrs. Tennent’s health. Mr. and Mrs. Tennent will leave shortly to reside at Papanui. Subsequently, Mr. Tennent will return when the congregation will make him a further presentation.
