AMERICAN BOMBINGS

LONDON, April 20

Powerful air blows have been struck against Japanese objectives in Burma reports a United Slates communique from New Delhi. Large calibre bombs put out of action a railway bridge north-west of Myitkyina and severely damaged a railway bridge at Namti. Liberators early yesterday morning attacked targets in Rangoon area, the central railway station yard and adjoining buildings being hit several times, after which heavy explosions occurred, and two large fires were observed. The Thilawa oil refinery south of the city was also hit. Heavy bombers last Saturday dropped C’ghteen tons of bombs on Pazaundaung railway bridge, near hits being All planes returned.
