I SMALL EASTER YARDING [ CHRISTCHURCH, April 21. I The Addington sale was held yesterIday, a day earlier than usual, with decreased yardings in all sections. Fat cattle and fat sheep values declined slightly. Store Sheep: Best ewe lambs made up to 23/-, and there were several .sales at from 16/6 to 18/6. Best wether lambs sold up to 18/1, medium to good from 15/6 to 16/9, and inferior from 11/6 to 13/-. A line of four-year-old open woolled ewes sold for 22/9, and others made from 15/6 to 18/7. Sound-mouth ewes in lamb to Southdown rams made from 18/9 to 23/3. Wethers were in short supply, and one pen of four and six-tooth sheep sold from 22/9 to 25/-. Fat Lambs: The highest price was 33/4 for the top pen of a line of 56, which ranged from 27/10 to that figure. There were again some big lines forward, the largest, 483, making from 23/4 to 27/7. Others included 201 from 21/4 to 27/10, 160 at an average of 25/4, 80 from 28/4 to 29/7, 60 from 27/10 to 29/4, 75 from 25/7 to 30/10, 75 from 24/1 to 24/7, 76 from 26/10 to 29/1, and 54 from 27/1 to 30/4, with some lambs down to 18/7. ! Fat Sheep: The entry of fat sheep [was about 4500 against 5000 last week. Except for a few pens of good weth|crs and ewes, the yarding was of a very mixed quality with old ewes predominating. Prime heavy wethers, to 36/-. Prime medium-weight wethers, 29/- to 31/-. Light wethers, io 25/-. Extra prime ewes, to 30/-. Prime medium-weight ewes, 14/6 to 17/6. Light ewes, 12/- to 14/-. Fat Cattle: Not for about two years has there been such an unspirited pale of fat cattle at Addington. The yarding of 397 was little more than ■half last week’s total, and even this small supply exceeded requirements, with the result that bidding was dilatory for all but the first race. Extra prime heavy steers, to £lB/12/6. Prime heavy steers, £l5/10/-to £l7. Prime medium-weight steers, £l2 10/- to £l4/15/-. Ordinary steers, £9/10/- to £ll/10/-. Prime heifers, £9/10/- to £l3. Medium heifers, £6 10/- to £B/15/-. Light heifers, to ,£6. Prime cows, £7/10/- to £9. Medium cows, £5/10/- to £6/10/-. Light, to £5. Vealers: Large runners, £5/1/- to £6/8/6; others, £3/18/6 to £4/18/6. Good vealers, £3/8/6 to £5/3/6: medium, £2/11/- to £3/6/-. Large calves, 33/- to 55/-; medium 18/- to 30/-; small. 8/- to 15/-. Store Cattle: Quality was mediocre, and in the small yarding there was a big proportion of rough cows. The only line quoted was a truck lot ol 20-months-old steers, which sold at £B/3/6. 1 Dairy Cattle: The dairy cattle sale was the worst for some time, the entry of 65 being mainly poor-class cows. The entry of heifers was of secondary quality except for odd special .entries and a truck of eight of mixed breeds which sold at £l3/3/-. Best second and third calvers made up to £l4/10/-, medium £7/10/- to £9 .10/-, and backward and inferior made ■up to £l6/10/-, good £l2/10/- to i £l4, medium £9/10/- to £l2/5/-, /and small and backward from £6 Fat Pigs: Light porkers, 46/6 to 52/6. Medium, 57/6 to £3/3/6. Heavy £3/4/6 to £3/9/6. Choppers, £2 11/- to £5/16/6. Light baconers, £3 'l4/6 to £3/19/6. Medium, £4/2/6 to £4/9/6. Heavy, £4/15/6 to £5/2/6.
