Thq monthly meeting of the Greymouth branch of the Patriotic Society was held yesterday afternoon when Mesdames F. A. Kitchingham, McKane, Saunders, Warnes, Parfitt, White, Smith, Reid, McLean, Mathieson, Harvey, Herring, Shallcrass and Miss Heaphy were present. A motion of sympathy to Mrs. Collins in the loss of her father wfis passed, members standing in silence. Several letters of appreciation were received from men overseas who had received gift parcels. Several letters were react 'from the secretary of the Provincial Council in connection with goods jor gift parcels and members expressed disappointment at the delay of these goods being sent from headquarters in Wellington thus causing delay in getting parcels away from Greymouth. The secretary was asked to get permission to purchase locally all goods obtainable. Instructions were received to have 536 parcels in M eljington by April 20. Donations towards the cost of same will be glad<y received. As the Red Cross are not conducting a shop-day on Friday the committee will have the shop proceeds of which will be for prisoners of war parcels and it will be a general day when it is hoped all residents of all areas will send a small contribution m the way of flowers, jam, cakes and nimble. Residents unable to send their donations should ring 477, 732 or 224. The committee expressed the wisn 'that offers from different orgamsations of the town be mode to conduct She shop and help raise the necessary 'money for the numerous activities.
