The marriage of Miss Mary McDonnell, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. McConnell, to Lester Frederick Evans, only son of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Evans, Christchurch, took place on Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Church, Greymouth. The altar was decorated with arum lilies and roses. Rev. Father Gregory officiated, and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Miss Joan Walker was organist and Miss Doris Willis soloist. The bride wore a gown ot magnolia satin, the train worked with Richelieu embroidery, and a Limerick lace vail, the handwork of the bride’s godmother. She carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies. The bride was attended by her sister Veronica, and Irene Scott, both bridesmaids being attired in pale blue georgette with matching veils, and they carried bouquets of roses. The bride’s two brothers, Gunner S. McDonnell and Hugh McDonnell were best man and groomsman respectively. The reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. The bride travelled in a frock of mist blue crepe with self trimmings and a banqre straw hat with cerise and blue trimming, toning with a pink coat. GARTH—MAYO The wedding was solemnised recently at St. Augustine Church, Cashmere, by Archdeacon Purchas, of Doreen Margaret, youngest daughter of Mrs. Mayo and the late Mr. J. Mayo, Cashmere, and formerly of Greymouth, and Frederick, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs F. Garth, Greymouth. The bride, who was escorted by Mr. K. Humm, was attired in a model frock of chestnut sheer, with a large picture hat to match. Her bouquet was of roses and. freesias, with maidenhair fern. She was attended by Miss Joyce Blocksage, of Greymouth, who wore a pretty frock of dusky pink, with navy hat and accessories to match. Her bouquet was of pale pink carnations and maidenhair fern. The best man was Driver J. Pattinson, of Cashmere. At the reception the bride’s mother received the guests, wearing a model navy frock with accessories to match and a shoulder spray ol' red roses. Mrs. Mayo was assisted by Mrs. F. Hill, aunt of the bridegroom, who was attired in a small frock and fur coat, with shoulder spray to tone. Driver and Mrs. F. Garth left later for Timaru, the bridge wearing a smart petrel blue costume with navy blue accessories.
