AUCKLAND WOOL AUCKLAND, November 17. The second Auckland wool appraisal of the. current season was completed this afternoon, and the appraisers left for Wanganui, The chairman of the Auckland Woolbrokers’ Association (Mr. F. G. Binney) said that the brokers were somewhat disappointed with the prices realised, but after holding a meeting and fully discussing the position with the Government appraisers it was found that some alterations in the typing of wools had been made. Advice received from Bradford had said that the last season’s wools had not been sorting up to the standard of quality on which they had been appraised. Hbwever, the chairman added, the growers could rest assured that the schedule of prices used by the appraisers this season showed a full 15 pei’ cent, increase on the schedule used last season. Brokers and appraisers are of the opinion that this season’s Auckland clip is generally slightly coarser and heavier in condition than tiiose of the last two seasons, owing to the mild weather, and clips are therefore not up to last season’s grading. AUCKLAND, November 18. Great difficulty is being experienced in handling the season’s wool, said Mr. Frank Binney, Chairman of the Auckland Woolbrokers’ Association, to-day. He forecast an extension of the period over which appraisements would have to be spread, and said that not only were sheepfarmers having trouble in securing labour for shearing, but the brokers were up against the growers’ labour problems. Before the second Auckland appraisal, transport of wool into stores had to be stopped to give the brokers a respite. The latest appraisal disclosed the wool is not up to last season’s quality being slightly coarser and heavier as the result of the weather. Discussing prices, Mr. Binney said the schedule prices showed 15 per cent, increase, but as the previous season’s wool was apparently graded too high, stricter conditions would affect the returns. opossum" SKINS Dalgety & Co., Ltd., have received the following report from their Dunedin Branch, regarding the opossum skin sale on November 16.
