BART’S DEFEAT N.Z.A.F. LONDON, November 16. Difficulty in obtaining leave played a large part in the R.N.Z.A.F. being defeated by 13 points to three by Bart’s Hospital. Flying Officer Eric Grant asked over 30 men before he could get a full side. The result was that the team was practically a side of strangers. Bart’s scored two tries in the first half, converting one. J. H. Macdonald, playing centre instead of on the wing, passed to Grant, who scored under the posts. Macdonald missed an easy kick. Bart’s led by eight to three at half-time. They hemmed in the New Zealanders for most of the rest of the game, eventually scoring again and converting. Other R.N.Z.A.F. players were: backs, Pilot Officer B. Henry (North Canterbury), Sergeants G. Brown (Wairarapa), A. Sutherland (Invercargill), R. Bennett (Auckland), Pilot Officer J. Plank (Wellington). Forwards: Sergeant I. Dustin, Pilot Officer F. Wliibley, Cadet-rating D. S. Hart (Palmerston North), Sergeants A. Davidson (Auckland), H. Morgan (Waikato), J. Insull (Wairoa), SubLieutenants Eaton (Wellington), and A. R. George (New Plymouth).
