COMMITTEE MEETING

The Management Committee of the West Coast Rugby Union met lust evening, there being present: Messrs A. A. Adams (President), T. Mclntosh, T. O’Donnell, P, Daly, F. Eggleton, M. Olsen, T. P. Ryan, F. W. Baillie, Pte, Kirkwood, and O. McLean (Secretary). L. Stewart who was ordered off the field in the West Coast-Buller match last Saturday was placed on the caution list. It was resolved that the Golden Bay Union be advised that on account of transport difficulties, the West Coast Union will not be represented at the primary schools’ tournament this season.

An invitation from the Canterbury Union for a West Coast team to play at Christchurch on Saturday, August 1, was accepted, and the selectors were instructed to choose the West Coast team on Saturday next. It was decided that a challenge be entered for the Seddon Shield. The following fixtures were arranged for Saturday next:— Senior: —Cobden v. Hokitika. Hokitika, 3 p.m.; Star-United v. Celtic, Park No. 1, 3 p.m., (R. Longstaff); Blaketown v. Army, Park No. 2, 3 p.m. (N. Eggelton). Third grade: Technical v. Cobden Tech. 1.30 p.m. (D. Hogarth): Star v. Celtic, Park No. 1 1.30 p.m. (C. Cockburn). Fourth grade: Tech. A v. Blaketown. Park No. 2 1.30 p.m., (A, King). bullerTunion August 15 was the date chosen by the Marlborough Rugby Union for the Seddon Shield match to be played at Westport, according to a letter from the union read at the weekly meeting of the Buller Rugby Union. It was decided to proceed with arrangements for the game. The Westport Territorial Club asked for permission to play a match against a Greymouth Territorial team on August 1. Permission was granted and all clubs will make their own arrangements for games on this date. A letter of thanks will be sent to the West Coast Rugby Union for hospitality extended to the Buller team and officials during their visit at the week-end.
